Carol Steinberg and Chris Evans started off their croquet year in style with a trip to play in South Africa with Carol  runner-up in the handicap singles.

Two heats of the Charity One-ball Handicap and the final were held in March at Bowdon with Graham Good winning the final in April.

The Lawns were opened for the summer season on 30th March and the traditional Saturday teas got underway in early April
 
Rupert Webb dressed up especially for his Saturdau tea.


Two taster days were held and attracted a good number of participants.

Brian Storey became the winner of Week 1 of the Steve Lewis Trophy (the Wednesday Comp) and the first three months of the seson saw another 14 different winners.

The league season kicked off with two local derbies. Firs beat St. Mary's 5-2 in the NW Federation Handicap league and Griffins beat Earls 4-3 in the Midweek league.


It was to be a  disappointing year for the club's league teams. The two Advanced league team finished 2nd, St,Mary's 5th, Firs 7th, the Griffins 5th, Earls 8th, the Short team 7th and the Golf team finished 5th.

The Bowdon Advanced Weekend was won by Paddy Chapman for the fourth year running.

The Home Internationals took place in mid-June with David Maughm in the winning England team and Daviid Walters playing for Wales.

The Hot Pot Supper and BBQ were, as always, sell-outs.

The Inter-club Golf team got as far as the semi-finals but lost to Watford and the Inter-club AC team were beaten in the first round by Woking.


The Longman Cup team started  well with a 5-2 first round win  over Bury.


  
Club secretary John Saxby celebrated Manchester City's double.


Barry Keen won the Advanced Weekend at Pendle.


Brian Storey retained the Cumbrian Cup at Crake Valley.

Ten members took part in the Inter-Counties with David Walters and Richard Smith playing for the winners Glamorgan.
