BOWDON CROQUET CLUB
96th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, 12th November 2016

49 club members turned up for what turned out to be a very full agenda for this year's AGM. Mike Sandler spoke on matters arising from last year's AGM, bringing the club members up to date with respect to our fight against the possible future loss of the car park and Jubilee Rooms.

The Presidential Remarks and the Honorary Officers' reports had previously been circulated and were taken as read. Steve Reynolds asked club members to let him know by email if they could think of any ways to improve the internal competitions. Treasurer Barry McKenzie spoke about the accounts, saying that the club's resources were still substantial but club subscriptions were to rise in line with inflation, increasing by £10 per annum. He expressed his surprise that, although we encouraged a cashless bar, the cash in the till had increased over the last few years and now stood at 60% of all monies into the bar. He said that this was not a good thing as money in the till was always at risk of being stolen and asked club members to give their opinions on a cashless bar; this resulted in the Committee being asked to consider ways that this might possibly be impemented.

All Club Officers standing again were elected en masse and Leo Fletcher was elected as Treasurer in place of the retiring Barry McKenzie. Carole Kelsall retired as Catering Officer and a replacement will be sought by the Committee.

With respect to
Proposed Resolutions, the proposal:
- to change the Club Rule relating to Discipline was carried
- to change the Club Rule relating to Country Membership was withdrawn but the Committee was asked to consider time taken to travel to the club rather than the distance between the two
- for the appointment of a Club Sub-Committee to examine whether the Club should become a CASC was not carried.

John Lucas made a request for the Committee to look at the make-up of players attending CA Tournaments held at Bowdon with respect to loss of lawn space for club members at such times.
