CROQUET CLUB - THE DEVELOPMENT OF WHITEHEAD
PARK Bury Croquet Club now has a third site, Whitehead Park, for croquet in 2015. Their use of Heaton Park for tournaments has slowly been diminishing over the past few years so, when the chance of a new facility came up, they took the opportunity. In 2014 Bury took over the tenancy of an abandoned Crown Green facility. Unused & unmaintained for the two years before their adoption, this period had allowed the playing surface to deteriorate with a heavy covering of moss and weed. The Club House was showing signs of vandalism and while large, was also very damp inside and in dire need of some TLC. See the development of Whitehead Park through pictures by clicking here. |
