CA CUP AND NWF LEAGUE MATCHES
Saturday 14th June - Sunday 15th June

Saturday 14th June: Bowdon beat Nottingham 5-2 at home in the Quarter Final of the Secretary's Shield (CA National Knockout Competition)

Barry Keen (Capt.)

Adam Swinton

Dave Holland

Graham Good
Only the winner of each Federation's Handicap League is allowed to play in the Secretary's Shield so this is the first time we have played in the competition since 2003 when we lost in the final to Tyneside, having won it the previous year. Nottingham brought James Death with them, a player involved in the recent MacRob team who is highly talented, using the 'pen' grip... and has often been seen playing with his mallet in one hand and a pint of beer in the other!

And NOW, by courtesy of Mike Steer, see an 18-minute video of some play in the match, including James Death's tpo in the doubles, by clicking here!

Scores (Bowdon names first):

Barry Keen (3) and David Holland (6) lost to

James Death (-2) and Sue Wilemen (11) -8 tpo

Adam Swinton (6) bt Ian Draper (14) +1
Graham Good (14) bt Omied Hallam (1.5) +14

The golf croquet team played away, amidst the hedges and flowers, at Westmorland. Westmorland won with 11 wins to Bowdon’s 7. Bowdon lost both doubles games.
