I
played in the USCA Invitation 8s second 8
(like the Chairman's) at NCC starting the
Thursday after we got here and won it with
11 wins. Attached is a view of the NCC, and
also a bit of coaching for the geeks, my
leave in one game after a tpo and 2 balls
pegged out. Red for 6 in the jaws, blue for
1 (brown is obviously a double banker). Blue
can get nowhere from the
contact and may well concede a lift if he
takes the contact. Blue took the percentage
play, he took the lift and lagged for good
position at 1 thus preventing me from taking
position at 1-back. However, I still had a 6
hoop start in the 1 ball game so I won by 5
in the end. Blue might have shot at
red from B baulk, it's not a terrible option
and a roquet might give the chance of a
split to position for 1 and a subsequent 2
ball break, but if he misses I get position
at 1 back before he tries to approach 1, so
he then has to give me 1-back and possibly
also 2 back, thus going 7 or 8 hoops
behind. This is why 1-ball is a good
game for the winter months, to learn about
situations like this!
Cheers,
Colin
