THE NORTH-WEST FEDERATION AGM
Culcheth Sports & Social Club, 2nd November

Prior to the meeting, Bowdon CC proposed an amendment to the format of the Advanced League in order to reduce the length of the day and to reintroduce an element of develoment via the use of doubles:

1. Change the format and make it a two-round match including at least one doubles game, either as a 3-player or a 4-player team, similar to the Mary Rose format, i.e. one doubles and one singles then 3 singles in the afternoon, or one doubles and two singles followed by four singles in the afternoon.
2. If 1 fails, the we propose a new B-Level league using a similar format to the above. Players at or below the upper limit (suggest two) can also play in the open league. If accepted, then remove bonus points from the Advanced League.

As a result of the ballot at the AGM, we lost the proposal to change the Advanced League format but did get the B-Level League proposal through for players with a minimum handicap of 1, i.e. not better than 1. The format will be for 3 players, including a doubles, and those eligible can play in both leagues if they wish. This means that we can give our B-level players good experience in advanced play while concentrating on winning the A League, if we so desire.

Roger Schofield stood down as the NW Federation Coaching Officer and Bowdon's Christine Irwin was duly elected in his place.
