AWARDED THE STEEL MEMORIAL BOWL

Congratulations
go to Francois Garcia on
winning the C.A. Award of the Steel Memorial Bowl for the most improved
female Association Croquet player in 2012. Francois fully deserves the
award with all the hard work and practise that she put in during the
season.
She
becomes the third Bowdon lady to win this award after Ailsa Lines in
1995 and Jenny Williams in 2001. The trophy is named after the famous
lady player Miss D.D. Steel who won the Championship of the North of
England for four consecutive years from 1935 and again in 1952, being
runner-up in 1947; in those days it was played at Buxton. Other wins in
our region include the Northern Week Open Singles title in 1938 &
1939.
