The 2012 Festival of Croquet
at Southport was a great success and a very enjoyable event for all
those who took part. The weather was rather inclement on Saturday
but bucked up on Sunday and ended up quite sunny. A lot of
croquet was played due to excellent organisation and a great deal of
hard work put in by the organisers and physical work put in by
Southport club. The food was superb and plentiful.
Bowdon was only entered for
two events: Handicap and Short. The Short team did rather well
winning 4 out of 5 matches on the Saturday and ended the weekend in
third place. The Handicap team didn't do so well but suffered
only one whitewash at the hands of Bury. Of the four remaining
matches we won two 2-1 and lost two 1-2.
The overall winners of the
tournament, Pendle, only entered two events, Golf and Short but
they did rather well in both.
