ADAM
SWINTON WINS ALL-ENGLAND HANDICAP FINAL
Adam Swinton travelled down to Sidmouth as a qualifier from the
North-West and came back with the trophy! On a very wet weekend
Adam got through to the final where he beat Andy Broadwood from
Bury. Adam's handicap was cut to 12.
As well as the 1922 Trevor Williams Cup,
which has been presented to the winner of the All-England Handicap
since 1995, Adam also received the Club Plate on behalf of the
club. This was a trophy presented in 1956 by the New Zealand
Croquet Council.
Previous Bowdon winners since 1956 have been Colin Irwin in 1983
(handicap 0), Ian Lines 1995 (8) and Hamish Stoddard in 1997 (12).
(In 1972 the competition was won by Nigel Aspinall wiith a
handicap of -5!!; although the handicap ranges were different
then).
