CENTENARY DAY CELEBRATIONS, Saturday 11th June


The club has been 100 years on its present site, although it came into being in 1873 as part of the Bowdon Bowling and Croquet Club. To celebrate our centenary, we had a day of vintage croquet where we played to old rules with old equipment and generally had fun!

The schedule was as follows:
10.00am onwards      Vintage croquet games organised by Chris &
                                 Colin Irwin
Lunch                       Members and guests were invited to bring a
                  hamper and enjoy a picnic by the lawns
4.00pm                      A gala afternoon tea was served to the
                                 assembled
company
5.00pm onwards        Alan Mayne invited members and guests to a
                                 cross-country croquet challenge
7.00pm                     Cocktails & canapes were served in the
                                Clubhouse


Dress code: croquet attire from any decade between 1911 - 2011 was encouraged. It was a splendid occasion to dress up for - after all, this was a one in a hundred years occasion!
