The club has
been 100 years on its present site, although it came into being in 1873
as part of the Bowdon Bowling and Croquet Club. To celebrate our
centenary, we had a day of vintage croquet where we played to old rules
with old equipment and generally had fun!
The schedule was as follows:
10.00am onwards
Vintage croquet games organised by Chris &
Colin Irwin
Lunch
Members and guests were invited
to bring a
hamper and enjoy a picnic by the lawns
4.00pm
A gala afternoon tea was served to the
assembled company
5.00pm onwards
Alan Mayne invited members and guests to a
cross-country croquet challenge
7.00pm
Cocktails & canapes were served in the
Clubhouse
Dress
code: croquet attire from any decade
between 1911 - 2011 was
encouraged. It was a splendid occasion to dress up for - after all,
this was a one in a hundred years occasion!
