"The Clang" Under New Management

As some of you may already know, our club magazine "The Clang" has been edited magnificently by Mike Steer for the last 9 years but he now feels the need to relinquish the job so has handed over control into the capable hands of Francois Garcia. Read below what Mike has to say about his time in office.

Editor’s last trites:

As I scrape the last traces of tippex from my computer screen, put away my 1957 copy of the Beano joke book and trun off the spellchucker for the lust tim, I have to admit to being a little sad (spellchecker back on thankfully).

So you won’t have me telling you “It’s that time of year again” when most of you can figure out what time of year it is by looking out of the window and some of you even know what day it is.

I have enjoyed my years as editor but it is time for a change.  We would all like to go back to the heady days when cars had running boards, a mobile was something you hung over a cot and television sets had six-inch screens yet still took up half the room, but we have to move on.

I am happy to say that the right person, for that move on, has come forward.  Francois Garcia has kindly offered to take on the job of editing Clang and has already come up with some new ideas which will become evident when her first Clang comes out in January.  My parting shot will be the editorial which may or may not include the words it’s that time of year again, again.  I wish Francois every success and hope she will find the job as rewarding as I have and that she will get the kind words of encouragement I have had from people over the years.
