BARRY KEEN DEFENDS PENDLE TITLE
30/08/10

Twelve contestants converged on Earby for a
weekend of handicap association croquet. They were playing for nothing
more than a trophy but the battles were hard fought in great humour and
with great determination.
Richard
Bellwood travelled across from the Isle of Man to take part and
finished mid table, others came from all corners of England and
Scotland. With Robin Delves,
Ron Welch, Roger Schofield and a Far Country member, David Gillett,
showing the flag for Pendle the three day event passed off in
reasonable weather although a cold Saturday had them reaching for their
warm clothes.
Barry Keen
managed the tournament and also won the Fastest Game trophy in just 29
minutes but this year came bottom of the table and now has a handicap
of 14! Janet Davies from Chester won the main event.
