GREAT BRITAIN NARROWLY BEAT THE USA 12-9 AT BOWDON IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE MacROBERTSON SHIELD (CROQUET'S WORLD CUP).  BOWDON'S IAN LINES MADE HIS MacROBERTSON DEBUT AND WAS IN GREAT FORM, WINNING HIS TWO SINGLES AND  TWO OUT OF THREE DOUBLES MATCHES WITH ROBERT FULFORD................................................................................

Club members Keith Aiton and Ian Lines won both their singles matches on Sunday to take Great Britain past the winning post  making GB the 2010 MacRobertson Shield Champions. New Zealand finished as runners-up.
