TOURNAMENT, Saturday 19th September
Played
for the Fotiadi Novices Silver Challenge Bowl, one of the nicest
trophies that the club possesses. It is open to all new members and
those who attended the Beginners'
Course again this year, and it was run on the day by Lorna Frost.

| The
Novices Tournament, open to all new members
and those who attended the Beginners' Course, went very well ably
managed by Lorna Frost.
The
final was between Derek Watson and David Morrow with Derek winning plus
4T. Iman Van den Bout was 3rd with Esther Walker 4th.
Derek not only won the lovely Fotiadi Silver Challenge Bowl but also a
top of the range mallet kindly donated by Jacques.

Format: We had 7 members entered in
the competition which was run as 2 blocks (4 in one and 3 in the
other), all playing all within their group, playing
Short Croquet 14pt. games lasting a maximum of 1 hr. 15 mins. They
were: Lance
Vandersyde, Iman van Dembout, Esther Walker, Roger McCall, David
Morrow, Derek Watson & Richard Abbott
The
scoring was such that the winner of a game got 20 points
plus the difference in the scores while the loser's score was
the number
of hoops he/she made.
The final and runners-up
spot were competed for by the winners from
each block, the 3rd/4th places by the runners-up from each block, the
5th/6th places by the 3rd places from each block and the 7th/8th places
by the 4th places from each block.
