On
Thursday evening (and on Thursdays into July) the club held
a beginners' follow-up evening for those new members who joined the
club
as a result of the successful Beginners' Course that was held in May
& June: a total of 18 new members were recruited this year out of
the 32 who turned up for the course. The recruits got "match practice" with a club member who acted as a doubles partner advising on shots and tactics, playing alternate shots. The club also covered some basic information about the operation of the club, such as arranging games, using the bar and entering the Novices Tournament in September for the coveted Rose Bowl, one of the nicest trophies played for annually by club members (see photo of a previous winner). |
